Blast Foundry began with two type designers who figured they'd make better work side by side than solo. We're still small, still independent, and still obsessed with getting the details right. You'll find our quirkier typefaces on Instagram, but plenty of our work is quieter — helping other foundries and studios get their releases out the door. Foundries like CoType Foundry, Indian Type Foundry, and, most recently, Sociotype have trusted us more than once, which tells us we're doing something right.
Our reputation of going ‘above and beyond’ has had our clients coming back for more in the last years. We’ve developed strong relationships in helping other foundries such as CoType Foundry, Indian Type Foundry, and recently Sociotype.
As a small team, we work hands-on and agile — less formal, more efficient. We start with an exploration phase covering multiple directions, then refine through fast feedback loops and evolving prototypes. You'll review beta fonts and weigh in on shapes, spacing, and features. Once you give the green light, we move into full development and figure out testing together.
Along the way, you can expect clear prototypes at every stage, notes on what's still in progress, multi-size testing, usage guidance, high-quality final files.
Barbara Bigosińska
¶ Barbara Bigosińska is a type designer and typographer based in The Hague. She received her master degree in Graphic Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. In 2010/2011 she was a student-assistant in the Lettering and Typography studio. She is an alumni of Type and Media class of 2012/2013.
Barbara has worked with multiple foundries and type designers, gathering invaluable experience. As a partner at Blast Foundry, she is dedicating herself to expanding the foundry’s library, crafting wonderful type specimens, and attending to custom projects for other foundries.
Diana Ovezea
¶ Diana Ovezea is a Romanian-born type designer and typographer, currently living in Amsterdam. She is an alumni of the Type and Media class of 2013. Diana has worked for and with multiple type foundries in the past, which has founded a broad experience in planning, developing, and proofing font families, as well as designing type specimens.
As a partner at Blast, Diana is dedicating herself to developing new typefaces, catering to custom projects for other foundries and agencies, performing quality control work, and recruiting new clients.
Ethan Nakache
¶ Ethan is a Paris-based type designer who studied typography at La Cambre. He collaborates with multiple foundries, including Blast Foundry, where he helps expand font families, refine production, and ensure seamless type development. His expertise, precision, and good spirit bring both quality and energy to every project.
Marie Santi
¶ Marie is an art director and visual designer who brings our typefaces to life through striking visuals and animations. Her expertise in motion and branding helps shape the way our fonts are presented and experienced.
Lora Shtirkova
¶ Lora is a Bulgarian graphic designer specializing in type design, lettering, and calligraphy. Proficient in both Latin and Cyrillic scripts, she earned her Master's degree from the Type & Media program at KABK in 2022. At Blast Foundry, Lora collaborates as a freelance type designer, contributing her expertise in script localization and quality control.
